Skiing & Snowboarding

25The Gulmarg Gondola is the 2 nd highest cable car in the world. The Gondola drops skiers and boarders at 3980 m high top hill station, a few meters  below the peak of Mt. Apharwat. Ski and boarding enthusiasts now have access to a vast ski run of approximately 5 square kilometers of powder. About 40 bowls go almost vertically down to Kangoori , the middle station of the Gondola, where also the restaurants are situated. Or you can ski way down to the valley of Drung Village, a run of 10 km – one of the longest off-piste-runs. During heavy snow storms when the upper mountain remains closed due to high avalanche risk, Gulmarg has amazing options to ski in the trees, where there are the deepest and driest snow conditions. That run takes you down to the village of Tangmarg. Or you can even skin up to Monkey Mountain and do some challenging tree skiing.

Skiing and Snowboarding in the Gulmarg backcountry

The Pir Panjal Mountain Ranges provide incredible backcountry skiing and snowboarding opportunities.

From the top of the Gondola you can head out into some of the most spectacular and rugged backcountry terrains in Himalayas. There you get the maximum untouched Himalayan Powder. Due to a large number of options available the guides will adapt the itinerary to your condition and to your desires.
